Live it, Not in It
When we say “live it, not in it,” it simply means to live in the moment. Our lives are often filled with busy schedules, deadlines, and work to catch up with that we forget how to enjoy life. Live it, not in it, encourages everyone to take a step back, breathe, and enjoy the moment our lives have to offer. It is being present in the now.
Living the life that you have, rather than being a product of society
To the everyday individual, life feels mundane. There is a routine they follow most of the time. “Eat, work, sleep, repeat.”
Is that all that there is to life? Are you happy with this cycle? The truth is that happiness works, and learning how to live life to the fullest takes dedication and practice.
Remember that you are not just another cog in the machine. You are a living, breathing HUMAN BEING.
So, it would be best if you weren’t dragging yourself through life like a zombie. Instead, unplug and change things for the better by living them. Enrich your boring life with fun and excitement, and realize its true potential. Live each day to the max. It simply means to… MAKE your LIFE truly WORTH LIVING.
Why Make the Most of Each Moment?
Because your life is much more than just living from paycheck to paycheck, you were not born to regret the past and worry about the future. So, embrace the fact that the past is in the past. And the future is uncertain. What you have now is irreplaceable.
It simply means that you should experience life from different angles and make the most out of each moment you live. How? You may ask.
Here are a few things you can do to LIVE THE MOMENT and enjoy your present:
1. Don’t force things upon you
Planning makes life easy. But overplanning doesn’t. That’s because meticulously focusing on every detail can get you stuck in your old ways. If you believe that ‘everything is always in your control,’ it will do more harm to your mental health than good. After all, we are all humans at the end of the day. We should let things fall in their place and should learn to relax.
So, give yourself a break and enjoy some ‘ME’ time every day. And the ‘ME’ time should be your time only. It means no spouse, no children, no family, no responsibilities, ONLY YOU.
Enjoy your ME time by reading a book. Dancing. Meditate. Doing Yoga or exercise. Or just anything you love doing.
2. Make Conscious Choices
The wise Dalai Lama said:
“Man! Because he sacrifices his health to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
Do we need to say more?
Making conscious choices is proportionate to living a purposeful life.
Decluttering your thoughts and making conscious choices allows you to enjoy the moment.
3. Find a Hobby
Feel stuck in a rut? Find a hobby- something you enjoy doing. It may sound cliché, but finding the right hobby can make all the difference you need.
A study in New Zealand reveals that people who engage in leisurely activities, such as a hobby, show better well-being.
So, adopt a creative and fun hobby. It can be anything you love- gardening, painting, singing, photography, etc. Pursuing your hobby will improve your mood and give you a clearer sense of purpose. And over time, it will eventually elevate the quality of your life.
Your hobby can even turn into your purpose or mission in life. According to Nichiren Buddhism, to build the strongest life force possible — one that can bear the weight of anyhow — we need a “why” to live that in some way involves contributing to the well-being of others.
4. Travel and Explore
“Travel, live, laugh, and love.” That is the motto you need for a fun life. That’s because taking a vacation can increase performance by up to 80%, according to Mark Rosekind, a researcher at Alertness Solutions. So, make sure you spare enough time to travel and explore the world.
Traveling around the world allows you to experience different cultures and meet new people. It improves your ability to adapt to different situations.
So, pack your suitcase and take that trip to Thailand you always postponed.
In the end, it boils down to experiencing life and exploring yourself.
Living it means enjoying each moment in life as it comes. And yes, take nothing for granted. To live a fulfilling life, make memories that you will always cherish.
Life is an experience; it is a perception. It comes down to experiencing life and exploring yourself. When you live in it, you are stuck in a program of expectations, anxiety, and self-sabotage.
Remember, you will be old and gray one day. So, experience life with no regrets.
Unplug from the day-to-day and realize what matters to you. Make each moment of your life count. Travel, explore hobbies, unplug, and make conscious choices- these all will collectively contribute to SELF-GROWTH.
