Let’s be honest; having a positive attitude is not always easy. You can pretend, but when things don’t go well, you feel horrible by the end of the day. 

Having a positive attitude does not always mean you should be smiling and laughing for no particular reason (people will think you’ve gone crazy)or be all happy and jolly. You can be a positive person without shenanigans! That said, these tips can help get you in that mindset:

Start your day with a prayer of thanks

Prayers are powerful, and if you are a religious or spiritual person, you know what I am talking about. But what if you are not? Of course, we all have our beliefs. If you believe in a higher power, the Universe, or God, then saying a prayer the moment you wake up fuels your mind, body, and spirit. 

You don’t have to be a religious person to say a prayer. If you believe that someone is looking over you, that’s enough reason to say thanks. Your prayer doesn’t have to be by the book; you can say something like “Thank you, for another day, for waking me up, and for all the blessings today, thank you for that,” – the moment you incorporate this in your day, you will feel a shift in your energy. 

Practice journaling

Another way to start your day with a positive attitude is to remind yourself about the positive things in your life. You can do this by writing it down in a journal [1]. 

As a teenager, our journals are filled with teen angst and rebellious thoughts. But now that we are adults, it is a lot easier to identify the positive things in life. Remind yourself of these things. 

Write what you are thankful for, your dreams, plans, and the things that made you happy. You will be glad to know how a small journal can make you feel better!

Take care of yourself. Literally. 

How you take care of yourself reflects on how you look on the outside. If you don’t feel good on the inside, how do you think you would look when you stare at yourself in the mirror? 

Start your day with self-care. Take a shower, use the best shower products, wash your face, and brush your teeth – these are essential self-care, but if you enjoy doing them, it will make you feel better even your day begins. It’s all about how you start your day! 

Do have some “you” time as well. By “you” time, I mean doing things you will enjoy. Go shopping, bake, read, watch a movie, get a mani-pedi, or whatever it is that makes you feel good.  Whatever you like to do, allow yourself to enjoy the moments. It will form a more positive attitude even when you are at work. 

Meditation helps

If you are not someone who meditates, it is the best time you do it. Meditation has proven to be helpful in terms of releasing stress. Deep breathing exercises are one of the easiest ways to meditate. It keeps you focused too as you align your thoughts and self for the day ahead.

Meditation can also reduce anxieties. Meditating for at least five minutes before you start your day can help you get things going. 

Do simple exercises

Walking outside, running, or doing jump ropes in your backyard are all excellent examples of simple exercises. Start your day with these, and you will feel better. 

If you don’t like doing outdoor exercises, you can always follow videos on YouTube or do yoga – anything that will get your heart rate up is good for your health and mood. 

Keep in mind that when you exercise, your endorphins increase, boosting your spirits. Exercising regularly will surely lift your mood and overall attitude. 

Read daily affirmations for a positive mindset

Morning affirmations are great starters for the day. Reading them aloud creates a positive tone inside you. This technique may be unconventional for some people, but affirmations are significant to your self-esteem. Keep in mind that words are powerful; therefore, you should encourage yourself. 

Visualize your day with success in mind

The law of attraction is compelling, and manifesting positive things is essential. Start your day with a positive attitude by visualizing how you want it to be. Imagine accomplishing your day with finished tasks or meeting your goals for the week. 

The more you practice this way of thinking, the more you attract the right situations that bring you closer to your goals. Practice this every day, and you will cultivate the same positive attitude!
